About The Bailiwick Free House
Nestled on the gates of Windsor Great Park, The Bailiwick Free House is a welcoming country pub where exceptional food meets a stunning natural setting. Its beautiful terrace overlooks ancient woodland, offering guests the perfect spot to relax, dine, and enjoy the peaceful charm of the countryside.
Under the leadership of Steven and Ami Ellis, The Bailiwick combines classic British flavours with refined culinary flair. Both trained under renowned chefs Andrew Pern (The Star Inn, Harome) and Clare Smyth MBE (Restaurant Gordon Ramsay), Steven and Ami bring creativity, skill, and heart to every dish.
The menus celebrate the finest local and seasonal ingredients, with a particular focus on game from Windsor Great Park — thanks to Steven’s close relationship with the Park’s Gamekeeper. Each plate reflects a passion for quality, sustainability, and the rich produce of this naturally abundant region.
Standing proudly by the park gates since 1877, The Bailiwick continues to welcome locals and visitors alike. While there isn’t a dedicated car park, guests will find plenty of bays nearby — and the short walk through the Great Park offers a chance to take in the scenery before arriving at this charming destination.
The Bailiwick Free House remains a place where great food, warm hospitality, and a sense of place come together in perfect harmony.
